"Hou tu pranownse Inglish"
"Everybody agrees that English spelling is horrible.
There have been almost as many proposals for spelling reform as there are rewrites of Esperanto. (Tellingly, there has been precisely one success in each category-- Noah Webster and Ido-- and neither caught on universally.) Most of these proposals spend their energy fixing what isn't broken. For instance, they search hard for clever new ways of spelling the ch sound-- even though ch does the job just fine in hundreds of languages. Or, they insist on 'correcting' the Great Vowel Shift, using Italian values for the vowels.

Whenever the subject comes up, someone is sure to bring up all the words in -ough, or George Bernard Shaw's ghoti-- a word which illustrates only Shaw's wiseacre ignorance. English spelling may be a nightmare, but it does have rules, and by those rules, ghoti can only be pronounced like goatee.

The purpose of this page is to describe those rules-- to explain the system behind English spelling, the rules that tell you how to pronounce a written word correctly over 85% of the time."

On said forums people generally post images of swords but provide no sources, measurements or any other critical data along with it. Furthermore the information is never organized in a useful way. Sword-Site is different. Here you will find volumes of useful data, well organized, and provided in a way that is easy to access. Better yet this site actually cites references; the hallmark of university level research, which separates Sword-Site from the blowhards."

Maps from various sources.
Falling Fruit
"Falling Fruit is a celebration of the overlooked culinary bounty of our city streets. By quantifying this resource on an interactive map, we hope to facilitate intimate connections between people, food, and the natural organisms growing in our neighborhoods. Not just a free lunch! Foraging in the 21st century is an opportunity for urban exploration, to fight the scourge of stained sidewalks, and to reconnect with the botanical origins of food."
Queering the Map
"Queering the Map is a community generated counter-mapping platform for digitally archiving LGBTQ2IA+ experience in relation to physical space."
Woman Yelling
"THE 'PLACES TO YELL' MAP is a collection of locations where yells have already taken place and untested (but promising) yelling spots. Cis and trans women and femmes are invited to submit the coordinates and descriptions of both tested and untested yelling locations for inclusion on this map. Submissions of audio, photo, and/or video documentation of completed yells at locations listed on this map are also encouraged."
Native Land
"Native Land Digital strives to create and foster conversations about the history of colonialism, Indigenous ways of knowing, and settler-Indigenous relations, through educational resources such as our map and Territory Acknowledgement Guide. We strive to go beyond old ways of talking about Indigenous people and to develop a platform where Indigenous communities can represent themselves and their histories on their own terms. In doing so, Native Land Digital creates spaces where non-Indigenous people can be invited and challenged to learn more about the lands they inhabit, the history of those lands, and how to actively be part of a better future going forward together."
Wind Map
"An invisible, ancient source of energy surrounds us—energy that powered the first explorations of the world, and that may be a key to the future. This map shows you the delicate tracery of wind flowing over the US."
Radio Garden
"Radio Garden invites you to explore live radio from around the world. By bringing distant voices close, radio connects people and places. From its very beginning, radio signals have crossed borders. Radio makers and listeners have imagined both connecting with distant cultures, as well as re-connecting with people from ‘home’ from thousands of miles away."
